Winter is Over

Winter is Over is a two-person exhibition of new paintings and sculptural works by Alin Lü and Xiaoyao Yao. Using the divergent, yet interrelated strategies of abstraction and representation, Lü and Yao each examine facets of memory, nostalgia, and place through humble, meditative arrangments of color and shape. Where one artist directs this creative focus outward, depicting wistful, yet hard-edged views of places observed and recalled (Xiaoyao Yao), the other gazes inward, seeking remembrance and understanding of emotional states past and recurring (Alin Lü).
